The System Level Design (SLD) Group at The University of Texas at Austin, led by Prof. Radu Marculescu, is seeking highly motivated PhD students to join our team starting in Spring or Fall 2026.

Our group works at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, efficient computing, and healthcare applications.

Current Research Directions

• Efficient AI for video and generative models
• Multimodal continual learning
• Efficient 2D/3D medical imaging
• Lightweight and distributed ML for edge devices

Candidate Profile

• Strong background in machine learning, computer vision, bioimaging, EdgeAI.
• Solid programming skills (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow).
• Prior research experience (projects, publications, internships) and math background are particularly valued.
